Salon Ratay Raises Funds for Double-Lung Transplant Patient

The fabulous Salon Ratay in Lake Mary, FL hosted a Cut-A-Thon Fundrasier last Monday evening to raise funds for a double-lung transplant patient.

Diane Fields has battled allergic bronchopulminary aspergillosis, a condition that has irreversibly scarred her lungs and caused pulmonary fibrosis and bronchiectasis. Diane was diagnosed at the age of 15 and has been dealing with her disease ever since. After years of struggle, she now relies on an oxygen tank for every breath. Doctors say a double-lung transplant is her only hope for a second chance at life. Diane, a retired nurse, has been married to Michael for 31 years and has 4 children.

Diane's relative is a client at Salon Ratay, and upon hearing the news, owner Sherry Ratay decided to pitch in and offer deeply discounted $20 haircuts as a fundraiser for Diane. 100% of the funds raised were donated to the National Transplant Foundation in Diane Fields honor.

The Economic Costs of Charlie Sheen’s Wild Life Style

Charlie Sheen’s epic meltdown has dominated America’s asinine media conversation for the past few weeks. Charlie has never been a bigger celebrity than he is now as he runs around creating new words for the English language (tigerblood, biwinnning), garnering millions of twitter followers and appearing on multiple media outlets...

FORMER NBC EXECUTIVE INVENTS RESTAURANT CONCEPT FOR CHARLIE SHEEN, WHERE GODDESSES WILL WAIT ON YOU

Boca Raton, Fl - - TransMeida Group, a public relations firm based in Florida, has come up with an idea for Charlie Sheen that could probably return more money than CBS owes him - a restaurant chain called Charlie Sheen Restaurants, "where godesses will wait on you" - and has even registered the domain http://www.charliesheenrestaurant.com/.

TransMedia's CEO, a former programming VP for NBC, thinks that it could be big money-maker and therapy for Sheen. Madden says if Sheen participates he has investor interest and it could be a slam dunk investment.

Madden, a product inventor, said he even has the cutlery for the restaurant, which he recently patented called the Knife and Forklift, a combination of dumbbell and utensils that functions as training wheels for overeaters. He said they could be included in the restaurant concept, to help fight food addiction and rapid eating that is contributing to America's obesity epidemic.

"We need to stop treating our digestive tracts as racing tracks," Madden says. "It is time for Sheen to take advantage of those million-plus Twitter followers and lead them in to the promised restaurant land."

The Oscars: Red Carpet Jewelry Recap

Red Carpet Recap by top South Florida gemologist, Richard Resnik of Raymond Lee Jewelers (www.raymondleejewelers.net) with locations in Boca Raton and Boynton Beach. Richard goes on to break down the two main trends he predicted for the Oscar’s red carpet based on the Golden Globes: ballerina or bombshell.

The Oscars: Red Carpet Jewelry Recap

The Golden Globes Awards were a strong indication of what we could expect from this year’s Academy Awards. As previously predicted the two main looks for women this year was a choice of two extremes, one was either a Ballerina or Bombshell. Jewelry choices remained simple with a ‘less is more.’ Bracelets and earrings were the main focus along with bare shoulders and necklines.

The following actresses stood out amongst the red carpet pack and their style has been graded on a scale of 0-4 Diamonds.

Oscar Host and future Cat Woman star Anne Hathaway, channels her inner Grecian Goddess in a gorgeous white beaded gown, accessorizing with sparkling diamond studs and a wide diamond bracelet, as the first of her many looks. In her second to last look of the evening she stuns with a royal blue metallic gown and sapphire drop earrings.
Grade 4 Diamonds.

Best Actress Winner Natalie Portman simply glows in her plum colored Verdarte gown and gorgeous Tiffany and Co. ruby tassel earrings.
Grade 4 Diamonds
Best Actress Nominee Jennifer Lawrence was the first star to grace the red carpet this evening and is a true bombshell in the making with her bright red figure flattering gown and simple gold bangle. While she is completely devoid of jewelry with the exception of the gold bangle she successfully avoided the pitfall most first timers make and doesn’t look like she is playing “dress up”
Grade 2 Diamonds

Best Supporting Actress Winner Melissa Leo- House of Mirrors or House of Horrors? This Marc Bower mishap is like looking into the sun- look at it straight on and you’ll go blind. She accents her outfit with simple drop earrings and an unimpressive pendant that like her dress, falls flat.
Grade 1 Diamond

Best Supporting Actress Nominee Amy Adams is never afraid of color. The radiant redhead is stunning in a navy beaded gown. I firmly believe redheads look best with a little bit of green to contrast with their fiery locks and she is no exception, as done so here with a gorgeous Cartier Jade pendant.
Grade 2 Diamonds

Black Swan’s Mila Kunis continues to carry off the ballerina style with a lacy periwinkle gown and simple forward facing hoops and pave diamond bangles.
Grade 2 Diamonds

And I am telling you……you look amazing! Best Supporting Actress Winner for her performance in Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson has undergone an amazing transformation and she shows it off in her Tangerine gown with long drop earrings.
Grade 4 Diamonds.

Cate Blanchette- As much as I loved the movie Alice in Wonderland and it inspired a whole number of gowns this year I am left with a feeling of Alice in What-the-hell? However from the neck up she is stunning as always
Grade 1 Diamond

Scarlett Johansson has redeemed herself from her Golden Globes fiasco and is simply gorgeous in her Amethyst Lace Gown by Dolce and Gabbana and amazing cocktail ring
Grade 2 Diamonds

Marisa Tomei is a true bombshell in her navy satin gown and bold choice of earrings. The wide link gold bracelet really sets her apart from the others.
Grade 2 Diamonds.

Helena Bonham Carter is usually a target for the fashion police, but this year, she teamed up with costume designer Colleen Atwood to create a Victorian inspired look, accented with beautiful drop earrings. The diamond brooch in her hair is a beautiful touch.
Grade 3 Diamonds

Was that Michelle Williams or Mia Farrow on the red carpet? The girl is simply stunning with her pixie cut and diamond cluster earrings
Grade 1 Diamond

A post-baby Penelope Cruz is the epitome of a ‘red carpet beauty’ with her ruby red gown and chandelier earrings.
Grade 3 Diamonds

Last year’s Best Actress winner Sandra Bullock is red hot in Vera Wang. She accents her look with simple diamond earrings and beautiful tennis bracelet.
Grade 3 Diamonds.

Halle Berry also redeems herself from a Golden Globes mishap by arriving in a Marchesa gown and vintage diamond jewelry.
Grade 3 Diamonds

Dame Helen Mirren chose Tahitian Pearl and Diamond earrings to accent her gown, which matches the color perfectly.
Grade 4 Diamonds.

Gwyneth Paltrow shines in her silver Calvin Klein dress and makes a bold statement with multi-color artisanal earrings and by placing a brooch on her hip to accent her look.
Grade 3 diamonds.
